LED streetlights could be helping councils to save money, energy and carbon. Around the UK, less than 20% of streetlights have been switched to LED. If all were LED, councils could save £200m per year - meaning more money for essential services for the community.
And LED street lamps would mean big carbon savings too. A full switch to LEDs will prevent up over 600,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being emitted into the atmosphere, the equivalent of taking over 250,000 cars off the road.
Write to your local councillors asking them to pledge to switch your lamp posts to LED in the next five years.
