Super low energy LED street lights could be helping councils to save money, energy and carbon. Yet right now less than 20% of street lights have been switched to LED.
Councils could save £200m every year - meaning more money for essential services for the community - if street lights went 100% LED.
That would be great news for climate change too - saving over 600,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year. That’s the equivalent of taking over 400,000 cars off the road.
Write to your local councillors asking them to pledge to switch your street lamps to fully LED in the next five years.
